First time installing Ignyq on Windows?

Windows may show a "Windows protected your PC" warning the first time you run our installer. This is normal — here's why, and how to proceed.

The 30-second version The warning appears because Ignyq is a new publisher to Microsoft SmartScreen. The installer is properly signed by Ignyq Inc. via SSL.com. To proceed, click "More info" in the warning dialog, then click "Run anyway."

What you'll see

When you double-click the Ignyq installer for the first time, Windows SmartScreen displays a dialog titled "Windows protected your PC" with a small "More info" link.

This warning does not mean Ignyq contains malware. It means SmartScreen hasn't yet recognized our publisher signature because our certificate is new. Microsoft requires every new software publisher to build "reputation" through download volume before the warning disappears, regardless of whether the binary is signed.

Three clicks to install

1

Click "More info"

The small text link appears below the warning headline. This expands the dialog to reveal publisher information.

2

Verify the publisher

You should see Publisher: Ignyq Inc. If it says anything else, close the dialog and re-download from ignyq.co/download.

3

Click "Run anyway"

A new "Run anyway" button appears at the bottom of the dialog. Click it to start the installer. You only do this once per version.

Why a signed installer still shows a warning

Microsoft SmartScreen uses a reputation system to flag unfamiliar publishers, even when their software is properly signed. New publishers — including Ignyq — need to accumulate download volume before SmartScreen treats them as known and trustworthy.

We chose an Organization Validation (OV) code-signing certificate from SSL.com rather than the more expensive Extended Validation (EV) variant. OV is the standard choice for independent software publishers and lets us keep our prices honest. EV would skip the reputation-building period but at a meaningful cost we'd have to pass on.

Once enough Windows users install Ignyq, the warning disappears automatically — for everyone, on every future build. Until then, the "Run anyway" path is the standard for new signed software.

Verify our signature yourself (advanced)

If you'd like to confirm the installer is genuinely signed by Ignyq Inc. before running it:

  1. Right-click the downloaded installer file (e.g., Ignyq-1.0.0-x64-Setup.exe).
  2. Choose PropertiesDigital Signatures tab.
  3. You should see a signature from Ignyq Inc. (issued by SSL.com).
  4. Click DetailsView Certificate to inspect the full certificate chain.
  5. Confirm the SHA-256 hash of the file matches the value published on our download page.
If anything doesn't match — wrong publisher name, missing signature, or hash mismatch — do not install. Email support@ignyq.co immediately so we can investigate.
