Ignyq vs Quicken
Quicken is a budgeting and bookkeeping tool you rent by the year. Ignyq is an investment analysis and planning tool you buy once. They overlap less than you would think.
The short answerPick by the job you actually need done.
If your main problem is "where did my money go last month" — categorizing transactions, reconciling accounts, running a household budget, tracking small business books — Quicken has thirty-plus years of work behind that and does it well.
If your main problem is "is this portfolio actually any good, and will it get me to retirement" — position analysis, risk modeling, valuation work, withdrawal planning — that is what Ignyq was built for, and it is where Quicken has always been thin.
Plenty of people genuinely need the first thing. This page is for the people who opened Quicken hoping for the second.
Credit where it is dueThree things Quicken does that Ignyq does not.
- Automatic transaction download and categorization from your banks and credit cards. Ignyq does not connect to your bank at all.
- Household budgeting, bill tracking, and reconciliation — the day-to-day money management Quicken was built around.
- Small business bookkeeping, invoicing, and rental property tracking in the Business & Personal plan.
If those are the reasons you use Quicken, keep using Quicken. We would rather tell you that here than take your money and disappoint you.
One more piece of fairness: Quicken Classic is locally installed and keeps your data file on your own computer, with cloud sync as an option you turn on. Quicken is not one of the products that forces your finances into somebody's cloud, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
The real differencesDepth of analysis, and how you pay.
1. Investment analysis is the product, not a tab
Quicken tracks what you own and what it is worth. Ignyq analyzes it. The full suite is 45+ modules covering DCF valuation, P/E and PEG and EV/EBITDA, modern portfolio theory, correlation matrices, Monte Carlo simulation, Kelly sizing, tax-loss harvesting, options analysis, momentum, and single-stock deep-dives. That is a different category of tool, not a better version of the same one.
How much you get scales with tier: eight analysis modules in the 30-day trial, portfolio analysis added at Personal, momentum plus the guru and sentiment engines at Wealth, and the advanced quant suite — MPT, Monte Carlo, correlation, Kelly, tax-loss, options, backtesting — at Elite. The pricing page lists exactly what is in each.
2. A financial planning suite, not a net-worth number
Eleven core tracking tools in the trial. Personal adds the Tax Estimator, Cash-Flow Planner and Savings-Rate Tracker. Wealth opens the retirement suite — Retirement Planner, FIRE, Roth Conversion, Social Security Optimizer, Withdrawal Planner, Debt Payoff — and the complete 38+ suite, including estate, Medicare, HSA, college savings and tax dashboards. All of it runs fully offline. No account connection, no internet required.
3. You can stop paying and keep your software
Quicken Classic is a subscription: Deluxe $83.88/year, Premier $95.88/year, Business & Personal $131.88/year, billed annually and auto-renewing. Let it lapse and the program stops working as a full product.
Ignyq sells annual plans too — but it also sells a lifetime license. Buy it once, own that version forever, no renewal, no reactivation, no hostage-taking of your own data. And you can try the whole thing free for 30 days before you decide.
4. Nothing to connect, nothing to breach
Ignyq has no bank connection because it does not need one — you import or enter your holdings, and they live in an encrypted file on your machine. There is no aggregation account to be breached and no credential vault holding your bank logins. That is a deliberate trade: you give up automatic transaction feeds, and you get an app with no attack surface pointed at your bank.

The subscription math
Quicken Classic Premier at $95.88/year comes to roughly $479 over five years and $959 over ten — and at the end of it you are still renting.
The Ignyq Wealth lifetime license is $549 once. It passes Quicken Premier's running total somewhere in year six, and after that the gap only widens. If you prefer to pay annually, Wealth is $229/year.
Common questions
Can Ignyq import my Quicken data?
Ignyq imports holdings from CSV, which every major broker and Quicken can export. It does not read Quicken's native file format, and it does not import your transaction and budget history — that is not what it is for.
Can I run both?
Many people do, and it is a sensible setup: Quicken for household budgeting, Ignyq for the investment side. They do not conflict.
Does Ignyq do budgeting?
Not in the way Quicken does. Ignyq includes budget, cash flow, spending and savings-rate tools, but it does not connect to your bank or categorize transactions — so it will not replace Quicken or YNAB for day-to-day money management.
Do I need to give Ignyq my bank credentials?
No. Ignyq never asks for them and has nowhere to put them.
What happens if Ignyq stops being developed?
Your lifetime license keeps working on the version you own, offline, forever. Your data is in a file on your own computer in a documented format. There is no server to shut off.
